"We want people to read more, read green, and read together."

That's what we agreed on when coming up with booKKiez. Our mission is simple: we want to inspire people to read more, read sustainably, and read together.

It all started with three friends living across Germany—Berlin, Hamburg, and Munich—united by our love for books and our passion for building community. In January 2024, the idea for BookKiez was born. One of us had already begun developing an app to scan books and share her library with her sister, sparking the concept of a platform where people could exchange books instead of constantly buying new ones. We envisioned more than just a digital library—we imagined vibrant neighborhoods where individuals could come together, share their favorite reads, and forge connections over a shared love of literature. So, we set out to create BookKiez: a place where you can scan your books, create a virtual mega-library, and connect with others in your neighborhood for book exchanges. It's not just about swapping books; it's about fostering meaningful conversations, making new friends, and building a stronger sense of community.

Join us on this journey as we work towards a world where reading is not only a solitary activity, but a collaborative, sustainable, and enriching experience for all.
